SURROUNDED BY WATER

If you live in Florida, you might as well live by the coast.  Pinellas County boasts modest temperatures, even in the summer.  The cool mornings are followed by an afternoon sea breeze which keeps the heat much lower than inland areas.  Watersport include sailing, boating, fishing, windsurfing, kiteboarding, skimming, surfing, paddleboarding, sunbathing or just strolling on the beach looking for shells.  If that isn't enough, golfing, shopping, gallery hopping, dining, museums, Buccaneer Football, Rays Baseball, Lightning Hockey, minor league games, antiquing or just taking in a new movie will round out a fulfilling lifestyle.

St. Petersburg has claimed the top spot for a second straight year on AmericanStyle Magazine's list of Top 25 Arts Destinations for mid-sized cities after 10 years on the list.  Recent additions to the city's arts community include The Chihuly Collection in June 2010, home to the only permanent U.S. collection of works by master glass artist Dale Chihuly, and a new location for The Dali Museum in January, with almost 67 thousand square feet of collection space. The Chihuly Collection has welcomed more than 100 thousand visitors over the past year, while The Dali has hosted more than 160 thousand.
Visitors and residents to St. Petersburg can count six world-class museums, including the Dali and Museum of Fine Arts; the Progress Energy Center for the Arts/Mahaffey Theater, home to The Florida Orchestra and the Class Acts artist residency program; a host of intimate theatrical venues; and a downtown gallery district, featuring works by local and regional artists among its treasures
